In The Major Forces Driving Humanity, Steven Zecola shows how religion, politics, science, economics and even sports have shaped human behavior over time. Zecola distills the lessons learned from this history to highlight those factors that have had the most impact upon people. To better capitalize on the power and direction of the major forces, Zecola argues for a series of adjustments in the objectives and operations of political systems. For example, as technological advances reduce the dependence of citizens on a representative government, he advances that citizens should: 1) adopt concrete benchmarks for elected officials to achieve on several key metrics and 2) demand more visibility, accountability and control into government operations. To address the expected conflicts arising from the growing divide of the major forces, Zecola proposes a series of incentives and penalties to modify organizational behavior.
