This is the story of one of the all time giants of Grand Prix motor racing in the pre war period, driving for Bugatti,Maserati,Delahay and Ferrari-Fiat. Later he and his brother immigrated to America and opened a resturant in N.Y C. that was to become world famous among the glitteratti of the world of international motor sport. More importantly.Rene Dreyfus, was always the consumate gentleman. Freely giving of his time to those who wished to know something of that fabulus era of Grand Prix motor racing. On top of all his accomplishments,Rene, while trapped in America by the outbreak of WWII,became an American citizen and served his newly adopted country during the war with distinction.
His biographer, Beverly Rae Kimes, was one of America's foremost automotive journalist and expertly weaves together the beautiful tapestry of a great racing driver, resturantur, gentleman and Franco American hero. A superb read for anyone interested in this fasinating period of motorsport. An absolute must on the true enthusiast book shelf.
