It is a true 'handbook' that is loaded with useful information and guidance to help you navigate through scouting, drafts, and the many pro opportunities out there today. But the book is actually much more than a reference guide, it is also a highly entertaining and interesting read that you won't want to put down. You learn not only about the system today, but how it has evolved over the years, and often puts today's system into historical context. Eddie Aucoin did a great job weaving in stories about many of baseball's well known players (and some lesser known ones too) as well as some amusing personal experiences in a way that brings even the more mundane part of the process (ex. MLB draft rules) to life. A great gift to any young player, parent, coach, or any student of the game of baseball.
