I searched for ever and came across the latest Consumer Report magazine and discovered the Lifecore Fitness CD-400 elliptical. I took the plunge and purchased this machine. The CD-400 is ultra compact and fits perfect in my space. This elliptical is built like a tank. It does not move around when I'm at full speed. There is not a up and down motion like most elliptical's. The center drive concept is to keep your body centered (read lifecore brochure). Other elliptical's move your body forward and it's harder on your knees. If your looking for high quality and compact look no further. I have purchased other items from Lifecore and their customer service is also awesome. They actually still answer the phone whern you call them. Wish other companies would take note

Get fit without toiling at the gym several times a week with the LifeCore CD400 C-drive elliptical trainer. Ellipticals in general support a terrific workout by working both your upper and lower body without putting significant stress on weight-bearing joints. The CD400 center-drive elliptical takes it a step further, however, by positioning your body perfectly upright throughout its motion. This creates a more comfortable and efficient workout, and ultimately produces better results over time. The trainer also offers a host of preset programs, giving you plenty of workout options whether you're a beginner just getting started or an experienced user hoping for a tougher challenge. The programs include manual, random, hill, glute blaster, interval, interval mountain, speed interval, target heart rate, heart rate cardio, heart rate fat burn, heart rate hill, and heart rate interval. And thanks to the trainer's close 2-inch pedal spacing and 21-inch stride length, each workout feels natural and enjoyable regardless of your fitness level.
To keep you motivated during your workout, the CD400 includes a large dot matrix LED display that tracks your time, speed, distance, calories, and more, along with a scrolling alphanumeric message center. Best of all for users with small homes or apartments, the CD400 measures only 42 inches wide, so you don't need to dedicate an entire room to storing the trainer. Other features include a friction-free magnetic resistance system, 20 resistance levels, a low 8-inch step-up height, front transport wheels, oversized cushioned footpads, center-grip heart rate sensors, a convenient built-in reading rack, and two user profiles.
