(More customer reviews)Among the enormous supply of introductory textbooks on philosophy, I find this one outstanding in its clarity and stringency. I particularly commend the outline of what philosophy is, and the various reasons for philosophizing. This book is not going to make you bristle with eagerness to philosophize, but it will help you know what philosophizing is all about. a pretty good start, i would say.

Thinking Philosophically begins by helping the reader acquire a lively sense of what philosophy is, how it began, why it persists, and how it is related to other fields of study, especially science.
