Moon Guadalajara: Including Lake Chapala (Moon Handbooks) Review

Having lived in Guadalajara for four years 35 years ago I knew that the city had grown substantially and I would need a guide book to get around. This book is very complete and up to date, much better than I had expected. I especially like the "Getaways" section that suggests day trips all around the region.

Moon Charlotte (Moon Handbooks) Review

Moon Charlotte (Moon Handbooks)

I've lived in and around Charlotte for more than a decade and I learned so much about the city from this guidebook. I loved learning about local history- something I haven't really been up on since I am not a native Charlottean- and I also loved the restaurant descriptors (Charlotte has some great restaurants and this helped me prioritize new places to visit), the festival listing, and the excursion section which gave me good ideas for simple day or weekend trips out of town that I haven't tried yet. Very useful, accessible, informative, and written in a way that makes you feel like you are talking to a good friend about her hometown.

Moon Washington (Moon Handbooks) Review

Moon Washington (Moon Handbooks)

I recently purchased the Moon Handbook Washington, 8th edition.
Previously I have used the 6th edition by Don Pitcher. Even though the older edition is outdated regarding lodging, restaurants, etc, I found it to me much more helpful and better organized.
Specifically, I appreciated all the local area maps in the older edition (112), versus only 44 maps in the 8th edition. Also, the index in the older edition was much handier, with the separate boxes for individual topics such as fairs, ferry service, hiking and lighthouses.
